Long Ball Powers SBU in Doubleheader Split

Bolivar, Mo - The Bearcats pulled out a win against Drury for a good split in the home doubleheader. SBU lost the first game 6-1 but won the second 5-1. These games pulls SBU's record to 7-44 (3-19 MIAA) on the season.

Game One
Drury scored one in the first but the Bearcats responded in the bottom half to pull back even. Megan Schellert singled to start the first followed by a couple groundouts to move her to third, Schellert then scored on a wild pitch. Maddie Massanelli had a solid outing, only having a small hitch in the fourth. Drury scored 4 in the fourth and one more in the seventh to bring the final to 6-1.

Megan Schellert led the Bearcats with one hit in three at bats and scoring one run. Kori Hillenburg, Rachel Brown, Kaitlyn Bagby, and Nicole Horstman also all added one hit.

Game Two
Lauren Strobel got the hitting started with an inside the park home run in the second. Strobel singled again in the fourth followed by a home run to right center by Miranda Aguilar to bring the score to 3-0. Kaylee Schmidli had a no hit bid going until the fifth inning when Drury finally got a hit and scored one to make it 3-1. The Bearcats responded in the bottom half though when Kori Hillenburg singled and Morgan McMullin followed her up with a line shot over the left field wall to make it 5-1.

Kaylee Schmidli pitched a complete game only giving up 4 hits and 1 run. Miranda Aguilar and Morgan McMullin each had two-run blasts to lead the Bearcats at the plate. Lauren Strobel and Kori Hillenburg also added two hits a peice.

Southwest Baptist will be back in action on Friday the 26th at home against Lindenwood.
