Bolivar, Mo. – The Lindenwood Lions visited SBU Tuesday afternoon, opening up MIAA competition for the men. The Bearcats swept the Lions 7-0, improving their record to 10-2 (1-0 MIAA).
In doubles play, the team consisting of
Raul Caballero and
Adham Gaber dominated their opponents on court #1, winning 6-1.
David Szeri and
Carlos Corser sealed the doubles point for SBU, winning on court #2 6-3. The Lions won on court #3, but the doubles point had already been won, making no difference in the score.
Adham Gaber continued his dominating freshman season, winning his singles match on court #2 in two straight sets, 6-3 6-2 to give SBU their second point. The third point came from
David Szeri, claiming a victory on court #3 with scores of 6-1 6-1. Senior
Raul Caballero handled his opponent well on court #1, surrendering just 3 games as he won 6-2 6-1. Caballero's victory sealed the win for the Bearcats, but they continued play.
Carlos Corser finished next, defeating his opponent 6-0 and 6-3 on court #4. Sophomore
Max Sanoja and senior
Marcel Castello also won on courts #5 and #6 respectively. They both won in two straight sets, Sanoja with a 6-2 6-2 score and Castello with a 6-1 6-3 score, giving SBU a 7-0 final score.
Adham Gaber continues to improve his record, improving his singles play to 11-1 on the year.
The Bearcats continue their conference play, heading north for their next competition to take on Northwest Missouri State on Saturday, April 6 at 12 PM.
