Durant, Okla. – The Bearcats wrapped up their regular season at Durant, OK taking on Southeastern Oklahoma State University. SBU controlled the match handily, defeating the Savage Storm 5-2 to finish with an 11-6 record on the season.
The doubles pair of
Dona Abohabaga and
Constanca Crespo finished first on court #2, taking the match 6-2.
Sarah Brown and
Diana Cabrera were the next to finish, also winning 6-2 on court #3.
Jill Van den Dungen and
Klara Vickov, the #7 doubles team in Division II, also won by a score of 6-2 on court #1, sweeping the doubles play and giving the Bearcats a 1-0 lead heading into doubles play.
In singles play,
Klara Vickov quickly made the score 2-0, winning 6-3 and 6-0 on court #3.
Constanca Crespo was the next to finish, handling her opponent in 2 sets, 7-5 and 6-0.
Jill Van den Dungen, #3 singles player in Division II, won the match clinching point on court #1, winning in three sets.
Diana Cabrera won the 5
th point for SBU, taking a 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 victory on court #4. Southeastern got their two points on courts #5 and #6 after the Bearcats had already won overall, creating a 5-2 final score.
The next competition for SBU will be the MIAA Conference Tournament. The women's team sealed the #4 spot and will take on #5 seeded Northeastern State on Friday, April 26 at 2 PM in Oklahoma City. There will be live stats and a live stream for the tournament, the link will be posted on the schedule.
