Bolivar, Mo. – SBU hosted Emporia State for their final MIAA match of the regular season. The women's team handled the Hornets with ease, defeated ESU 6-1. The Bearcats improve to 10-6 (6-3 MIAA) on the year.
In doubles play, the Bearcats swept the Hornets on all three courts, losing just 5 games throughout all 3 matches.
Sarah Brown and
Diana Cabrera won first on court #3, not losing a single game, 6-0. The team of
Jill Van den Dungen and
Klara Vickov also dominated their opponents, winning 6-0 on court #1.
Constanca Crespo and
Dona Abohabaga wrapped up the doubles play with a 7-5 victory on court #2, giving SBU a 1-0 lead heading into singles play.
Constanca Crespo was the first Bearcat done in singles play, winning on court #2 with scores of 6-1 and 6-3. The next to finish was
Jill Van den Dungen on court #1. She only lost one game, winning handily with scores of 6-0 and 6-1, giving SBU their third point.
Klara Vickov won the victory point for the Bearcats, claiming a 6-0 7-5 victory on court #3.
Diana Cabrera and
Dona Abohabaga extended the win for SBU, getting points 5 and 6 on courts #4 and #5 respectively. ESU's lonely point came on court #6.
The Bearcats hit the road for one final regular season match, taking on Southeastern Oklahoma State on Friday, April 19 at 12 PM.
