Strobel Goes 3-5 Against #2 Ranked Central Oklahoma

Edmond, Okla. – The Bearcats took on the #2 ranked Central Oklahoma Bronchos Friday afternoon. UCO won both games, 6-1 and 8-0, moving SBU's record to 5-36 (2-12 MIAA) on the year.

Game One
The Bronchos had runners on second and third in the first inning, but the Bearcats kept UCO off of the scoreboard for the time being. In the 2nd inning, Morgan McMullin hit a one out single up the middle, giving SBU their first base runner of the afternoon. After a second out, Lauren Strobel also hit a single, putting runners on first and second, but a fielder's choice ended the inning.

In the bottom of the 3rd inning, UCO broke the scoreless tie, taking a 1-0 lead. Kaitlyn Bagby led off the 4th with a single but nothing more would come of the inning. UCO did the rest of their damage in the 5th inning, scoring 5 more runs to make the game 6-0. In the 7th inning, Rachel Brown singled up the middle with no outs. Lauren Strobel followed with a single up the middle as well. Central Oklahoma got two quick outs, but a single from Megan Schellert brought home Brown, making the score 6-1. However, that would be all SBU would get, ending with a 6-1 final.

Lauren Stroble had two hits in the game, going 2-3 at the plate.

Game Two
The Bronchos had a base runner in the 1st inning, but the Bearcats worked around the hit, getting out of the inning unharmed. Rachel Brown was the first Bearcat to reach base, singling up the middle with two outs in the 2nd. UCO broke the game open in their half of the 2nd, scoring 4 to take a 4-0 lead.

UCO continued their offensive momentum, scoring another run in the 3rd and two more in the 4th, extending their lead to 7-0. With two outs in the 5th, Lauren Strobel smacked a single to right field. An error by the pitcher moved Strobel to second and but Emily Hall on first. The pitcher made another error on the next play, loading the bases. However, the Bronchos got the third out before any Bearcat runners could cross the plate. UCO scored once more in the 6th inning, making their lead 8-0 which puts an end to the game due to the run rule.

The Bearcats continue their lengthy road trip with a double header at Pittsburg State on Tuesday, April 16 starting at 2 PM.
