Bolivar, Mo. – The SBU Men's Tennis team extended their winning streak to 5 matches with a 4-3 win against #28 ranked Ouachita Baptist. The teams previously met at Ouachita Baptist on February 14
th, SBU claiming that match 6-1. With the win, SBU improves to 12-2 on the season.
The Bearcats swept doubles play, winning on all three courts.
Gyorgy Agoston and
Ferenc Agoston finished first on court #2, defeating their opponents 6-2. SBU's #12 ranked doubles team of
Adham Gaber and
Raul Caballero claimed the doubles point for SBU, winning 6-2 as well.
David Szeri and
Carlos Corser wrapped up the doubles competition with a 6-3 victory on court #3.
In singles play, Gyory Agoston dominated on court #3, winning 6-0 and 6-1 to boost SBU to a 2-0 lead.
Adham Gaber played on court #1 in singles play for the first time this season, handling his opponent well. He won in two straight sets by scores of 7-5 and 6-1, giving SBU a 3-0 lead.
Carlos Corser won the 4
th and match claiming point with his victory on court #5, 6-1 and 6-4. Ouachita Baptist got their three points on courts #6, #2, and #4, creating a final score of 4-3 in favor of the Bearcats.
Southwest Baptist will host MIAA opponent and #45 ranked Washburn at home tomorrow, Saturday, April 13 with a start time of 11 AM. The women's team will also take on Washburn tomorrow. Their women's team is ranked #5 in the nation.
