Bolivar, Mo – SBU fell to Fort Hays State in the final game of the three game series on Saturday. The Bearcats are now 8-7 (3-3 MIAA) for the season.
Southwest Baptist struck first with a run in the first on a
Carl Schwettmann single to left field. The Bearcats tacked on another score in the second as well on an error by the second baseman allowing
Noah Tucker to score. Fort Hays had their bats going early though scoring three in the first and two in the second to give them a 5-2 lead early.
Caleb Sneed got the bats going again in the 6
th on a single up the middle followed by two walks, loading the bases. Schwettmann drove in the Sneed on a single to left,
Hunter Hisky and
Jackson Soule scored on
Noah Tucker's infield single. Down 10-6 going into the 9
th the Bearcats tried to get a comeback started, but it was cut short after scoring one run making the final 10-7.
Caleb Sneed led the Bearcats going 3 for 5 with an RBI and
Carl Schwettmann going 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs.
Cory Dudley shut the door out of the pen going 3 innings giving up 3 hits and no runs.
SBU will be back in action at home March 8 at 1:00 playing Northwest Missouri State University.
