Tahlequah, Okla. - SBU women's tennis managed to beat Northeastern State in a close score of 4-3, breaking Northeastern's streak of 47 straight MIAA regular season wins.
In doubles,
Jill Van den Dungen and
Klara Vickov managed to add the first point to the Bearcats, winning the set 6-4. The Riverhawks tied up the score by winning on court #3, 6-1.
Diana Cabrera and
Constanca Crespo clinched the doubles point and gave SBU a 1-0 lead after taking the set 6-3.
In singles, NSU tied up the total score by winning on court #1. Crespo gave the lead back to the Bearcats for the second point, beating her opponent on court #2 in two sets, 6-1, 6-0.
Sarah Brown helped SBU boost their lead to 3-1, winning on court #5, 7-6, 6-1.
Diana Cabrera then clinched the win for the Bearcats, winning on court #4 in a final set 6-4, after coming back from 1-4 down. The Riverhawks played out on courts #3 and #6, taking both of those matches to finish with a final score of 4-3.
Women's tennis will be back in action at home next Saturday, facing #15 Midwestern State at 1 PM.
