Bolivar, Mo. – The Bearcats fell to Drury 9-4 in game one and 4-2 in game two. The two losses moved the Bearcats to a 1-14 (0-0 MIAA) record for the year.
Game One
SBU got off to a hot start in game one scoring two in the first off of a
Lauren Strobel double and a
Miranda Aguilar single with the bases loaded that scored two.
Kaylee Schmidli held the Panthers scoreless in the bottom of the first. The top of the second started with
Yezzania Gonzalez reaching on an error, followed by a single by
Kori Hillenburg and
Paige St. Pierre which loaded the bases.
Lauren Strobel hit a sacrifice fly to right field to bring home one run to finish up the second inning with SBU leading 3-0.
The bats fell silent for SBU after that with Drury scoring one in the third and SBU getting one back in the fourth to make it 4-1. The panthers then went on a run scoring five in the fourth and 3 in the 6
thto finish the game with a final score of 9-4.
Miranda Aguilar led the Bearcats in hitting going one for three with two RBIs.
Game Two
Maddie Massanelli got the start against the Panthers. The Bearcats went down early but
Yezzania Gonzalez started the third off with a single, later scoring on a single by
Megan Schellert to make it 3-1.
Sam Moran reached base to start off the fourth and was pinch ran for by
Nicole Horstman.
Morgan McMullin followed her up with a double to put runners on second and third,
Miranda Aguilar kept it going with a single scoring Horstman to make it 3-2.
The Panthers ended up scoring another run in the fifth to make it the final score of 4-2.
Maddie Massanelli had a solid showing giving up two earned runs on six hits with nine strikeouts.
Megan Schellert led the Bearcats hitting going 2-4 with one RBI as well as
Miranda Aguilar going 1-3 with an RBI.
The Bearcats will be back in action at home with a doubleheader on March 5
thagainst Missouri S&T.
