Jefferson City, Mo. – The Bearcats handed Lincoln their 6
th straight loss Wednesday night, winning 82-78 to improve to 13-14 (7-11 MIAA). SBU is now tied for the 9 spot with Central Missouri in the MIAA standings. If SBU ties with UCM at the end of the season, SBU has the tie breaker against the Mules, going 2-0 against them this season.
Lincoln jumped out to a 4-0 lead to start the game.
Chris Rossow scored SBU's first bucket, and two free throws after another Lincoln score to make it 4-6 Blue Tigers. It was Rossow scoring again, nailing a three to give SBU their first lead of the night.
Karim Mouliom then made a layup, followed by a
Maris Colton three pointer, giving SBU a 12-8 lead. Following two Lincoln free throws,
Godfrey Rolle made a big three to go up by 5. With 10:09 left in the first half,
Adnan Jahic made a layup to make the score 24-21 SBU.
The Blue Tigers quickly tied things up with a three pointer. With 6:49 on the clock,
Chris Rossow made a steal leading to an alley-oop dunk by
Karim Mouliom. A couple minutes later,
Maris Colton and
Damian Prgomet made layups to give SBU a 34-28 lead. The home team responded quickly, hitting two three's to tie the game at 34-34. With 1:51 remaining in the half, the score was tied once again at 37-37.
Maris Colton gave SBU a two point lead with a layup, but Lincoln managed to make a three. With just 8 seconds to go in the half,
Quinn Nelson drilled a three to give SBU a 42-40 lead going into halftime.
Nelson began the second just like he ended the first, making a three pointer.
Godfrey Rolle added to the lead, scoring a layup. With 16:37 left in the game, SBU took their largest lead of the game at 10 points, thanks to a
Chris Rossow three point play.
Adnan Jahic made a layup with 11:13 to go, but a Lincoln jumper brought them within 1 heading into the second media timeout.
Following the media timeout, Lincoln regained the lead on two free throws. It was
Quinn Nelson hitting another major three, putting SBU up 65-63. The teams battled hard for the remainder of the game, keeping the score close. With 1:37 to go,
Quinn Nelson drained another three following a
Chris Rossow steal and an assist by
Godfrey Rolle. The Blue Tigers made two free throws, but
Adnan Jahic got those back with two free throws of his own. With under a minute to go,
Chris Rossow pushed the lead to 6 with another two free throws. Lincoln hit a three with 49 seconds left, but that was all they got, ending in an 82-78 SBU victory.
Chris Rossow led SBU offensively, going 5-6 from the field and 3-4 from three to score 19. He also had a career high 5 steals in the victory.
Quinn Nelson also scored 15, shooting 5-6 from the field and a perfect 4-4 from three.
Godfrey Rolle and
Karim Mouliom were the other Bearcats in double digits, scoring 14 and 12 respectively. Mouliom also grabbed a team high 8 rebounds.
SBU will wrap up their season against Lindenwood on Saturday, March 2 at 3:30 PM.
