Arkadelphia, Ark. - SBU Men's tennis started their season today with a strong performance and a win 6-1 against a tough opponent in Ouachita Baptist University.
In doubles, senior
Gyorgy Agoston and junior
Nicholas Gilmore lost 6-1 at #1. Quickly after, junior
Ferenc Agoston and sophomore
Max Sanoja tied the doubles scoring, grabbing a 6-2 win at #3. The doubles point came down to our #2 doubles team, freshman
Adham Gaber and senior
Raul Caballero. They grabbed a 6-4 win after breaking their opponent at 5-4. SBU grabbed the doubles point to go up 1-0 before the single games began.
In singles, senior
Raul Caballero grabbed the second point for the Bearcats after winning his match 6-2, 6-1 at #1. Senior
Marcel Castillo added the third point for SBU after a strong display, winning his match 6-3 in the third set with one break. Freshman
Adham Gaber clinched the winning point for the Bearcats after a very tough match in 2 very close sets 7-6, 7-6. Senior
Gyorgy Agoston added the fifth point at #3 winning 7-5 in the third set after a marathon match that lasted 2 hours and 30 minutes. Another good tennis match at court #5 was sophomore
David Szeri. He managed to win his match 10-5 in super tie break. OBU got their point at #6 winning their match in a super tie break.
The SBU Men's tennis team will be back in action tomorrow when they take on Harding University. The game is set to start at 11 AM.
