Bolivar, Mo. – Southwest Baptist played host to Newman University for a mid-day weekend matchup. The Bearcats would use a 21-4 run in the second quarter to take a 15-point lead into the half and didn't look back. This win improves the Bearcat's record to 3-2 on the season.
Newman started the game with some tough defense in the first holding the Bearcats to 2-12 shooting from deep and only scoring 10 points.
Bailey Rezabek helped to get SBU back on track in the second quarter with 4 three-pointers made to spur a 21-point onslaught. Offense wasn't the only improvement for SBU in the second quarter, they were able to hold the Jets to 4 points on 14.3% shooting from the field.
The Bearcats struggled in the third quarter, scoring 8 points on 18% field goal shooting. Newman would have a one-point lead going into the fourth but baskets by
Zahria White,
Regan Tibbits, and
Bailey Rezabek would give the Bearcats a 6-point cushion with 4:06 left to play. Newman and Southwest Baptist would trade baskets until the 40 second mark where some clutch free throws by Rezabek and Kylie Vaught would keep the lead out of reach and seal the win for the Bearcats.
Bailey Rezabek led the Bearcats in scoring with a 25-point performance followed by
Zahria White tacking on 11 as well.

Kyleigh Vaught also dished out 8 assists.
