Bolivar, Mo. - The SBU Volleyball team was back in conference play after the crossover tournament last weekend. Quincy was the opponent Friday evening, taking the match by a score of 3-1. The Bearcats move to 4-19 (0-8 GLVC) on the season.
During the first set, SBU trailed 3-9, but scored 9 straight to take a 12-9 lead. Unfortunately, the Hawks bounced back and won 25-20. The second set had a similar feel, SBU down 10-16 then scored 8 straight points for an 18-16 lead. Quincy had a 24-23 lead, but SBU rallied for the last three points to win the set 26-24 on a
Mikhaela Cochran kill. Quincy went on to win the third set 25-15 and the fourth set 25-14 to win the match.
Rachel Pfeifer had 12 kills on the night and
Delanie Tipton also had 11.
Makenzie Bouse led the team with 3 blocks and 42 assists, and
Kylie Talbott collected 20 digs in the loss.
SBU will be back in action tomorrow, Saturday, October 26 with match time set for 3 PM against Truman State.
