Omar El Kheshen

Omar El Kheshen begins his 2nd year (2019-20) as the Men's and Women's Tennis Associate Head Coach. Previously, he served as Assistant Coach for SBU Men’s and Women’s Tennis.

In 2018-19, SBU men’s tennis finished with a 19-3 record, winning back to back both conference and regionals tournaments, advancing to the NCAA Sweet 16 Nationals tournament in Orlando Florida. The men’s team made it to the Elite 8 of the National tournament. Freshman Adham Gaber was named NCAA-All American after reaching #11 in the nation in singles. The team achieved a cumulative 3.72 GPA. Omar El Kheshen was named ITA Head Coach of the year by the Central region.

On the women’s side, the team finished with a 13-8 record, advancing to the NCAA Regional Championship. Junior Jill Van den Dungen was named NCAA-All American after reaching #3 in the nation in singles. Constanca Crespo was also named NCAA-All American after reaching #20 in the nation in singles. Senior Klara Vickov received the MIAA Excellence Award, while the Women’s Tennis Team achieved a cumulative 3.92 GPA.

In 2017-18, SBU men’s tennis finished a 19-3 record, winning both conference and regionals tournaments and advancing to the NCAA Sweet 16 The national tournament in Surprise, Arizona. Senior Sherif Abohabaga was named NCAA-All American after reaching #8 in the nation in singles. Also, junior Gyorgy Agoston and sophomore Ferenc Agoston were named NCAA-All Americans after being ranked #9 in the nation in doubles. Senior Torben Semrau received the Google Cloud CoSIDA All-American award, while the Men’s Tennis Team achieved a cumulative 3.52 GPA. Omar El Kheshen was named ITA Assistant Coach of the year by the Central Region. 

On the women’s side, the team finished with a 14-4 record, advancing to the NCAA Regional Championship. Junior Klara Vickov and sophomore Jill Van Den Dungen were named NCAA-All Americans after being ranked #3 in the nation in doubles. Junior Klara Vickov received the Google Cloud CoSIDA All American award, while the Women’s Tennis Team achieved a cumulative 3.72 GPA. 

El Kheshen graduated from Southwest Baptist University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing, while earning his Master of Education in Athletic Administration in 2016.

Omar worked as an Assistant Tennis Coach at Weil Tennis Academy in Ojai, California from 2015-2017 where he coached and prepared players for NCAA Division I Universities such as UCLA, Oregon, Arizona, Alabama, and Utah.

As a player at SBU, EL Kheshen was named NCAA All American in 2014 after being ranked #8 in the nation in doubles. He Advanced with the team twice to Nationals during the 2 seasons he played here at SBU. On his senior year, the team made it to the Elite 8 of Nationals in Orlando, Florida.

El Kheshen represented the Egyptian National Team for 8 straight years, from 2002 until 2010. He was also ranked in top 240 by the ITF (U18).

El Kheshen holds two tennis certifications for Global Professional Tennis Coach Association (GPTCA), one tennis certification for Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) and one fitness certification for International Tennis Federation (ITF).

Omar El Kheshen currently resides in Bolivar, Missouri.
