Kyleigh Vaught is entering her first season (2022-23) as Graduate Assistant for the Women's Basketball team.
"We are excited to have Kyleigh remain on our bench for another season of Bearcat Basketball," says Head Coach Kelsey Keizer. "Kyleigh's passion for the game and desire to mature in the coaching ranks will be an exciting addition for our staff."
Vaught helped lead the Bearcats to 16 wins last season and to the team's first ever GLVC playoff win. Vaught was the team's leading scorer with 15.8 points per game and earned All GLVC Honors. On February 19, 2022, Kyleigh scored her 1,000th career point in a Bearcat uniform. Kyleigh has stamped her name in the SBU record book for career scoring average, 3-point field goals made, 3-point field goal percentage, and career free throw percentage.
"Kyleigh has an undeniable competitive nature about her", Associate Head Coach Brittney Dukes adds, "Her intuitive abilities on the court will add great value to her coaching career. I can't wait to see her flourish in her new role with the Bearcats."
Kyleigh is a native of Smithton, IL and graduated from SBU in December 2021 with a degree in Psychology. She will continue her studies toward a Master's Degree in Athletic/Activity Administration this Fall.
