Derald Henderson returns to the Bearcat sidelined for his 1st season (2025-26) as an Assistant Coach.
"I am excited to be back in Bolivar. This University means a great deal to me." Henderson adds, "I'm excited and grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the program and help foster the growth of our student-athletes on and off the court."
Coach Henderson was a Graduate Assistant for the men's basketball team during two of the best years for the program in recent history. He started during the Covid season (2020-21) when the team went on to win the GLVC West Division finishing 15-7 and 4
th place in the conference. The next season he helped lead the team to a 21-6 record and the GLVC regular season champions.
While a GA, Henderson coached the guards position group and was crucial in the development of All-Conference guards of
Mitch Ganote and Quinn Nelson. He also assisted in local recruiting and scouting and game preparation. In 2022, he graduated from SBU with his master's degree in Teacher Leadership.
The past few years he has continued to enhance his coaching skills at Cole Camp High school leading a variety of teams including basketball, football, and assisting baseball. Henderson also taught Physical Education and Health there. Before joining the Bearcats in 2020, he was the Head Varsity Coach at Stockton High School where he led the team to a 57-48 record in four seasons. He also led them to winning two tournaments and one district championship game.
He earned his undergraduate degree from Missouri State University in Science Education in History.
