Brey Cook will be entering his first year with the Bearcats (2019-20) on the Southwest Baptist University coaching staff.  Cook serves as the Offensive Line Coach and Run Game Coordinator.

Prior to coming to SBU, Cook has had previous stops at Memphis University and the University of Arkansas.  While at Memphis for the 2018 season, Brey coaches on an offense that finished the regular season 3rd in the FBS in rushing (285.5), 4th in total offense per game (534.3) and 7th in scoring (43.6).

Before moving to Memphis in 2018, he got the opportunity to coach at his alma mater.  While at Arkansas he assisted with the offensive line in 2016, including Pro Football Focus All-America first team choice Frank Ragnow (first round draft pick by the Detroit Lions), that helped pave the way for running back Rawleigh Williams III to capture the SEC regular-season rushing title with 1,326 yards and provided time for quarterback Austin Allen to throw for an SEC-best 3,430 yards. The Razorbacks manufactured 428.4 yards of total offense per game, highlighted by five games with both 200 yards rushing and passing.

Cook started 30 of 48 career games played on the offensive line, including his final 25. As a senior, he participated in more than 850 snaps, tallied more than 40 knockdowns and blocked for running backs Alex Collins and Jonathan Williams, who were the only FBS teammates to each rush for 1,000-plus yards in the 2014 season. The Razorback offensive line also led the SEC in fewest sacks allowed with 14.  In his time at Arkansas, he played for one of the top offensive line coaches in the county Sam Pittman and former Bearcat football standout Eric Mateos.

During his junior campaign, Cook played a pivotal role on an offensive line that helped Collins become the 10th true freshman in SEC history to rush for 1,000 yards. The offensive line also broke the single-season school record by only allowing 8.0 sacks. Arkansas led the SEC and tied for second in the NCAA with an average of 0.67 sacks allowed per game.

Cook, a native of Springdale, Arkansas, earned his bachelor’s degree in communication from Arkansas in 2014. He was named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll for his work in the classroom in the fall of 2011 and 2013.
