Michael Caveney is currently in his second year (2024-25) serving with the Southwest Baptist University baseball team as the Assistant Coach and Manager of Facilities. He started at SBU in 2022 as the baseball graduate assistant, then a year later was promoted to full time assistant coach in 2023.Â
Before SBU, he was the student assistant at Queens University of Charlotte helping the Royals go 29-22 and finishing third in the conference. Before becoming the student assistant in the 2021-2022 season, he had his career shortened due to injury after transferring to Queens.
Caveney started his college career at Brunswick Community College in Bolivia, NC. Spending three years at Brunswick, traveled with the Dolphins during his Redshirt year to the NJCAA D2 World Series in Enid, OK where the Dolphins won their first ever World Series game against Monroe CC. (NY) In the 2018-2019 season, Michael helped the dolphins achieve a 40-win year, falling short in the region championship to Pasco-Hernando. Having the 2020 season cut short due to Covid, Michael and the Dolphins were off to a hot start at 11-3.
Caveney was born in Augusta, GA and also lived in Atlanta, GA and Southlake, TX, until after his freshman year of HS. He finished high school at North Raleigh Christian in Raleigh, NC. He received his Bachelor of Science in Sport Management from Queens University of Charlotte in 2022 and was the treasurer of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). He started his MBA in the fall of 2022 at SBU and plans to finish in the spring of 2024.Â
Caveney resides in Bolivar with his wife Madeline.
