John Q. Hammons court is home to the Bearcat Basketball (Men & Women) and Volleyball teams. It was built in 2004, when the Ken & Jane Meyer Wellness Center was added to the Southwest Baptist University campus. It is named after the late James “John Q” Hammons, a Springfield, Missouri business leader. The Bearcats logo at center court stretches from 3-point line to 3-point line and is thought to be the biggest across all NCAA divisions. The arena, part of the Ken & Jane Meyer Wellness Center, has a maximum occupancy of 2,925 people and between it’s close quarters and the Bearcat faithful, the venue is one of the loudest in the GLVC.
