Bolivar, Mo. – The SBU men's soccer team fell to Missouri S&T 3-0 Wednesday afternoon at the SBU Soccer Field. The loss moves the Bearcats to 4-3-1 overall and 1-3-1 in GLVC play.
The Miners opened the scoring in the 23rd minute when Kellen Douglas found the back of the net off an assist from Zyon Makoul. Missouri S&T added to its advantage in the 36th minute, converting a penalty kick to take a 2-0 lead into halftime. Missouri S&T added its final goal in the 88th minute to secure the 3-0 victory.
The Bearcats finished the match with 13 shots, just two fewer than the Miners' 15. Dylan Gorman recorded SBU's lone shot on goal, while Derrick Londono Zapata, Maxence Cardon, Justin McPherson and Joe Wright each finished with two shots. Jan-Henry Schäfer played all 90 minutes in goal for SBU, recording two saves.
SBU will return to action Sunday, September 27, traveling to Indianapolis to take on the University of Indianapolis at 2:30 p.m.
