Bolivar, Mo. – SBU women's track and field team concluded their GLVC Championships on Saturday afternoon taking 2
nd place with a score of 150 points, just four points shy of the first-place team.
SBU had an incredible 10 podium finishes and six records broken in this final day of the GLVC Championships. One athlete contributed on four of those six records, two as an individual and two in a relay.
Madison Davis broke the first SBU record in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.10m finishing in 2
nd place at the Championships. Later the took 2
nd place in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:01.21 earning eight more points and breaking another SBU record.
Davis joined
Stephanique Dean,
Laura Dixon, and
Brianna Lord in the final event of the day setting two records in the 4x400m relay. This group blasted past their competition running a time of 3:39.29 winning the event and setting a new GLVC record by over two seconds. This group also qualifies for the 2026 National Championship as they have the third best time in NCAA Division II.
Another GLVC record was broken by junior
Stephanique Dean in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.14 seconds with a 1
st place finish. Earlier in the day, Dean took 1
st place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.34 seconds earning another 10 points for SBU. With the two individual titles, a relay title, and a relay 3
rd place, she won the GLVC women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year Award. She is the 3
rd straight Bearcat to earn this award.
For the second straight year, junior
Savannah Manthey not only claimed the GLVC title but also broke the GLVC record in javelin. She dominated her competition out throwing everyone by nearly seven meters with a mark of 48.19-meters. Even though this isn't her best this season, this mark still would have been good enough for 8
th in the Nation.
Alexis O'farrell (3
rd),
Hope Woodall (4
th), and
Kelsey Rhoades (5
th) rounded out the scoring in the women's javelin throw.
Following up on her indoor 800-meter title,
Emily Young showcased she is the 800 queen in the GLVC blowing past her competition for 10 points.
Lily Simmons started the day out strong for the Bearcats with a 3
rd place finish in the high jump.
Olivia Littleton also added another 3
rd place to her Championship earning six points in the 5,000-meter run.
This Championship concluded the 2026 Track and Field season for a majority of the Bearcats. Now only a few will await and see if their marks from this Championship or earlier in the season is strong enough to make it to the 2026 National Championship.
