BOLIVAR, Mo. – The SBU men's tennis season came to a conclusion Saturday afternoon, falling to rival Drury University 2-5. With a lot on the line, the Bearcats could not overcome the top seed in the West Division moving to 6-9 (2-2 GLVC) on the season, narrowly missing the conference tournament.
The Bearcats took the first point of the match in doubles action, winning two of the three doubles matches.
Oliver Kocanovic and
Alexandru Marinescu lost to Drury 0-6 in the #1 spot, but
Juani Morresi and
Alejandro Beneyto Sanchez in the #2 spot and
Federico Riolo and
Romain Ramuz in the #3 spots both secured 6-1 wins.
Drury rallied early into the singles matches taking the first three singles points in quick succession winning all in two sets. Riolo battled in his singles match, winning the first set 6-3, yet fell in the final two to lose the point. The only singles match to go to SBU went to Morresi has he handled his opponent with ease at the #5 spot 6-3, 6-1. Kocanovic fell in the #6 spot in two quick sets ending the season for SBU men's tennis.
