Fayetteville, Ark. – SBU track and field had some of their top competitors battle at the Arkansas Spring Invitational at the University of Arkansas Saturday. Three different Bearcat individuals and two relay teams hit National marks while numerous others had season or personal bests.
 
The top mark of the day came from Stephanique Dean in her bread and butter event, the 200-meter dash. She took overall second in the event with a time of 23.41. That time was good enough for a National mark and is currently the 7^th best time in Division II solidifying her spot at the upcoming National Championships.
 
On the guys side, Marcus Jones about solidified his spot for the 2026 outdoor National Championship in the 400-meter dash. He ran a person best time of 46.75, good enough for the 11^th best time in NCAA DII and 5^th place in the event.
 
The third National mark came from junior Angel Dickerson in the 100-meter dash, taking 7^th place in the meet. His time of 10.40 seconds was a season best and 26^th in the Nation. Dickerson will need to improve his time in the final couple meets.

Two relay teams hit National marks in the very same event. The men's 4x400-meter relay team comprised of Jordan Noel, Cade Nold, James Hunter, and Marcus Jones ran a time of 3:12.45 hitting a National mark which is 26th best in Division II. The women's 4x100-meter relay team comprised of Sierra Wallace, Stephanique Dean, Brianna Lord, and Laura Dixon also hit a National mark with a time of 46.10 seconds, currently 27th in the Nation.
 
Southwest Baptist has one more meet before the GLVC Championships that will be hosted in Bolivar. Next weekend, April 18^th, the team will head to Pitt State for the PSU Tune Up.
