BOLIVAR, Mo. — The Southwest Baptist Baseball Bearcats open Great Lakes Valley Conference play this weekend as they host the Rockhurst Hawks for a four-game series at Dodson Field. The games have been moved to two doubleheader days due to weather. The first doubleheader will be on Saturday, March 7th at 2:00 p.m. and the second on Sunday, March 8th at 12:00 p.m.
SBU enters the weekend at 6-6 overall, coming off its first home sweep since 2017. The Bearcats' offense has fueled that momentum, with multiple hitters producing at an elite level early in the season.
Ryan Ray leads the team with a .457 batting average and .559 on-base percentage, while
Jared Pugrad is hitting .452 with a 1.177 OPS.
Raydley Legito (.408) continues to pace the club in extra-base hits, and
Reese Ruderman (.390, 2 HR) and
Cooper Burgess (.375, 10 RBI) provide key run production in the middle of the lineup.
On the mound,
Eli Stewart has recorded 16 strikeouts in 19.1 innings, while
Koen Van T Klooster has added 21 strikeouts in 16.1 innings.
Rockhurst enters conference play at 11-2 overall, setting up an early-season GLVC test for the Bearcats. All games will be played at Dodson Field and be streamed on the GLVC Sports Network.
