Indianapolis, Ind. – Three Southwest Baptist track and field athletes have qualified for the 2026 NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships, as announced by the NCAA office on Tuesday.
Stephanique Dean returns for her second straight National Championship, while
Angel Dickerson and
Marcus Jones each qualify for their first National Championship. These championships will take place on Friday, March 14
th and Saturday, March 15
th.
Dean returns after earning an All-American last year with a 7
th place finish in the 200-meter dash. This season, she will compete in both the 200-meter and 400-meter dash. Dean enters the 200m dash with a time of 23.88, the 8
th best time entering the National Championship. Her other event will be in the 400m which she enters with a time of 54.49 seconds, the 14
th fastest time entering the Championships. The 400m preliminaries will take place on Friday at 3:45 p.m, with the 200m preliminaries being at 5:00 p.m.
On the men's side, it's two record holders that will be competing at their first National Championship for the Bearcats. Dickerson holds the SBU record in the long jump and will be competing in that same event. He enters with a mark of 7.39 meters which is 13
th best. His event will take place on Friday at 4:10 p.m. Later in the day, GLVC record holder,
Marcus Jones, will compete in the 200-meter dash. He enters this Championship with a converted time of 21.12 which is 13
th best in Division II. The 200m dash preliminaries will be at 4:40 p.m.
These Championships will take place in Virginia Beach, Virginia at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.
