Wichita, Kan. – SBU men's tennis claimed their fourth victory of the Season Tuesday afternoon defeating Newman University 5-2. This win moves them to 4-7 on the season.
The game started out strong as they took down their opponents in the doubles point for an early 1-0 lead.
Juani Morresi and
Alejandro Beneyto Sanchez easily won at the #2 spot by a score of 6-1, following shortly by
Federico Riolo and
Romain Ramuz winning at the #3 spot 6-2.
A few of the Bearcats had to move up from their normal spots but still came out victorious. Ramuz found solice at the #1 spot winning in three sets (6-4, 3-6, 1-0). Southwest Baptist was able to secure points easily in their other three matches.
Federico Riolo started out with a two-set win 6-4, 6-2 at the #3 spot. Morresi and
Oliver Kocanovic won even quicker, also in two-sets. Morresi, at the #4 spot, won 6-3 and 6-1, followed by Kocanovic who only dropped one point at the #5 spot 6-0, 6-1.
SBU tennis will conclude their non-conference action on Friday, March 28
th in Kansas against Baker University. This road game will take place at 2:00 p.m.
