Maryville, Mo. – The SBU women's track team sprinted to some big marks at the Northwest Missouri State Invitational Saturday afternoon. Multiple Bearcats hit National marks or broke a school record highlighting the progress these student-athletes have made all season.
In one of the first events of the day, freshman
Madison Davis broke a school record in the 60-meter hurdles. This came in the preliminary race where she ran a time of 8.86 seconds beating the record held by her teammate
Jaynae Pinder.
All-American
Stephanique Dean just about booked her ticket to another Indoor National Championship in two separate events. First in the 400-meter invite, she took gold with a time of 54.49. That not only is a personal best for her but currently ranks her 6
th in the Nation. Later on, she narrowly missed out on another personal best in the 200-meter with a time of 23.88 seconds. This time gave her another 1
st place finish and is ranked 3
rd in the Nation.
Her fellow sprinting partner and All-American
Laura Dixon added another National mark to her year in the 400-meter invite. Her time of 55.45 seconds was good enough for second in the meet, only behind her teammate. In field events,
Lily Simmons took 1
st in the high jump with a mark of 1.63-meters.
The Bearcats' next meet will come in one week as they return to Pittsburg, Kansas for the third time this season to compete in the PSU Gorilla Classic. Competitions will begin on Friday, February 13 and conclude on Saturday, February 14.
