Bethany, Ok. — This Saturday, Bearcat baseball ended their 4-game weekend series versus Southern Nazarene University. The Bearcats started off the morning with a loss, but came back and dominated game two with a 25-10 win moving them to 2-2 on the season.
In game one, SBU was the first to get on the board in the top of the 5th, scoring two. Junior
Ryan Ray hits his first home run of the season in the 7th inning, adding two runs for the Bearcats. Pitcher
Roberto Garcia made his first appearance this spring, recording two strikeouts. After the Bearcats took the lead, Southern Nazarene responded with runs in four different innings, including a five-run fifth, and went on to secure a 5-11 victory.
Despite the outcome of the morning, the Bearcats came back with a standout offensive performance in game two scoring 25 runs on 21 hits throughout the game. After falling behind 10-2 heading into the 3rd inning, SBU dominated the rest of the game, going on a 23-0 run to end the game. Southwest Baptist batted a total of six home runs from six different Bearcats including
Hayden Prewitt,
Jack Harris,
Reese Ruderman,
Cole Reece,
Jared Pugrad, and
Raydley Legito. Ruderman tagged along a team high six RBI's off a team high four hits. Pugrad, Prewitt, and ray all were second on the team in hits with three.
Senior pitcher
Koen Van T Klooster picked up his first Bearcat win, recording five strikeouts across three innings not allowing a single run.
Dane Rodgers started on the mound and was relieved by
Cade Langford early into the contest.
Jude Sundquist also threw a solid two innings with two strikeouts and not allowing a run.
