Bolivar, Mo. – The SBU men's basketball team just capped off an incredible weekend with a 2-0 road trip. On Thursday, they downed the Upper Iowa Peacocks 86-74, defeating them for the first time in program history. Two days later, they extended their winning streak to three by pouncing on the Hawks of Quincy University 84-58.
 
Against the Peacocks, the Bearcats controlled the game throughout never trailing and never let the Peacocks claw back to a tie. It was a game where SBU's aggression was rewarded as they got sent to the free throw line 34 times, making 29 of those shots for 85.3%. The team shot an efficient 57.4% from the field making up for their only three, three pointers. Jevin Sullivan led the team with 23 points with Zac Reedus right behind at 19 points.
 
On Saturday, this momentum boiled over into taking down their second bird of the week in dominant fashion. Though they trailed for 26 seconds early into the first half, after taking the lead there they never looked back extending their lead to 10 at half. It was an explosive second half as they outscored the Hawks 43-27 to win by 26. The efficiency soared through the roof as they shot 63.6% from the field and 52.2% from the three-point line. Reedus led the team in scoring with 22, as freshman Leo Gayman scored 17 off 66% from the field.
 
Over the course of the past three games, the Bearcats have only trailed for 26 seconds and have shot over 50% from the field in each game. Now they take this three-game win streak back home Thursday, February 5^th, and Saturday February 7^th. They will battle Truman State on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. who they beat earlier in the year and William Jewell on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. who enters this weekend on an eight-game win streak.
