Indianapolis, IN - The Southwest Baptist University men's and women's track and field teams traveled across state lines to compete in the Great Lakes Valley Conference indoor championship. After day 1 of the meet, the men's team is currently sitting in fourth place with 22.0 points, and the women's team is in third place with 21.0 points.
Sophomore
Marcus Jones broke the GLVC record in the Men's 200 Meter Dash with a time of 21.59 seconds, finishing first in the prelims and moving on to the finals Sunday.
Kelsey Crabtree finished fourth overall in the Pentathlon, with her best event being long jump and tying for first place.
Andrew Rhoades is currently sitting in fourth place overall in the Heptathlon, earning second place in both the 60 meter dash and long jump.
Along with Crabtree,
Kiersten Potter earned points in the 5,000-meter claiming second place for her first ever podium finish. In that same event, just behind her, was sophomore
Natalie Gerdes who snagged a 4th place finish also scoring for SBU. Dylan Skinner used an 8th place finish in the weight throw and the distance medley relay took 7th, rounding out the points for the women.
Ellis Joslin and
Afton Hopkins tied each other to each earn a podium place in the pole vault at 3rd.
Angel Dickerson started his first GLVC Championships out strong with a 3rd place finish in the long jump.
Numerous other Bearcats had strong times in preliminaries to qualify for the finals on Sunday.

Brianna Lord: (W) 400 Meter Dash 5th
Marcus Jones: (M) 400 Meter Dash - 3rd, (M) 200 Meter Dash - 1st
Angel Dickerson: (M) 200 Meter Dash - 3rd
