Box Score 1 Magnolia, Ark. — The men's tennis team of Southwest Baptist University (SBU) wrapped up their season's sole trip to Arkansas on Saturday after completing matches against Southern Arkansas University (SAU) and Delta State University (DSU). SBU fell in both games, moving their record to 1-5 for the season.
Friday, February 27 vs SAU
SBU was held scoreless against the Muleriders on Friday as they lost 0-4. The Bearcats' lone win came in the #2 doubles spot when sophomore
Juani Morresi and senior
Alejandro Beneyto Sanchez defeated their opponents 6-3. However, losses in the other two doubles spots cost Southwest Baptist the doubles point. In singles, the Bearcats fell in the #2, #3, and #4 spots, ending the game before the other singles matches could finish. In the #1 singles spot, Beneyto Sanchez had won the first set and was winning the second set when the game was abandoned.
Saturday, February 28 vs DSU
Saturday's match against DSU mirrored Friday's match. The only difference between the two was Beneyto Sanchez's victory in the #1 singles spot, giving the Bearcats their sole point in the 1-4 loss. Morresi and Sanchez once again won their doubles match, but losses for SBU in the other two doubles matches meant the Statesmen took the doubles point. Bearcat losses in the #2, #3, and #4 singles spots clinched the match for DSU, although
Frederico Riolo was able to win the first set in the #2 spot 6-2.
