Ozark, MO - The Southwest Baptist University women's beach volleyball started their campaign this season Friday, February 27th under new head coach
Paityn Walker. The Bearcats played their first game against Missouri State University (MSU) and the University of Central Arkansas (UCA), falling 0-5 both matches.

Match 1: Despite a strong effort, the Bearcats were not able to overcome MSU. SBU's #1 team,
Addi Fanning  and
Melanie Cox fell in two sets in a challenging match (8-21, 7-21). Freshmen duo
Maya Keller and
Bre Perez competed as SBU's #2 team, also falling in two sets (11-21, 7-21). SBU's #3 and #4 teams both fell in two sets in a challenging match:
Abby Garner and
Reagan Hoerning (11-21, 11-21), and
Sara Younkin and
Rory Stanley (8-21, 13-21).
Savannah Chance and
Fayth Kaminski competed as SBU's #5 team, falling to the MSU Bears (4-21, 4-21).

Match 2: SBU almost took a point off of UCA with
Fanning and
Cox falling in three sets (19-21, 21-10, 13-15) in a highly competitive match up.
Keller and
Perez put up a tough fight (14-21, 14-21). The pairs of
Garner and
Hoerning,
Younkin and
Stanley, and
Chance and
Kaminski lost (9-21, 15-21; 10-21, 15-21; and 6-21, 8-21) respectively.
The Bearcats will be back in the sand again at Volleyball Beach Ozark on February 28th, taking on Coach Walker's alma mater Eastern Kentucky University at 8:00 AM and Lindenwood at 12:00 PM. To stay up to date with all things SBU athletics, please visit
