Bolivar, Mo. – Head men's soccer coach Steve Bushre announces resignation from Southwest Baptist University as he has agreed to another position closer geographically to his hometown.
 
"We are thankful for Steve and his work with our Men's Soccer program.  He has done a great job, and we wish he and his family all the best as they make this transition.  We are thankful for Steve and his family!"
 
In his two seasons leading the men's soccer program, he brought them to new heights setting multiple program records. In the 2025 season, he led them to the most regular season wins, most conference wins, and two GLVC Athlete of the Week awards. He helped the team excel on and off the field with a team GPA of 3.54 in the Fall, with 10 of his student-athletes have a perfect 4.0 GPA.
 
"We are excited about the momentum and the strides our Men's Soccer program has made the past two seasons.  The school has invested more in the program and we are looking forward to see its continued growth!"
 
SBU will begin a National search for the next men's soccer coach. Interested applicants should submit a resume and a Statement of Faith to the SBU Athletics department at athletics at athletics@sbuniv.edu.
