Bolivar, Mo. – The SBU men's volleyball team looks to continue their hot start Friday and Saturday as they host two different opponents. First on Friday, they will battle Central Christian College at 6:30 p.m. then Westminster on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
 
It has been a stellar start to the program for Bearcat men's volleyball entering this weekend with a 4-1, with their sole loss coming in five sets in their second game of the season. With just two weeks before conference play begins, the Bearcats have an opportunity to continue fine tuning their skills before competing in the GLVC.
 
The Bearcats are led by two strong hitters, each averaging over 3.5 kills per set. Freshman, Lucas Phelan leads the team averaging 3.79 kills per set and is second on the team in points with 87.5. His fellow teammate Evan Strahlendorf is just behind him at 3.60 kills per set but with an impressive .372 hitting percentage. Strahlendorf also leads the team in serving aces with 11.
 
Saturday's match against Westminster will be a rematch of the Bearcats sole loss this season. In that first game, the Blue Jays won the first two sets before SBU nearly had a reverse sweep winning the next two, before Westminster clinched the match in the fifth. The Blue Jays still enter this game with a 13-4 record setting up an exciting grudge match in Bolivar.
