Bolivar, Mo. – After two neutral site weekends, SBU softball gets to compete on their home field this week. They will take on MIAA foe Northeastern State in a doubleheader at the SBU Softball Field, Saturday, February 21
st at 1 & 3 p.m.
Record wise, it has not been an ideal start to the season for Southwest Baptist Softball as they enter this weekend with a 1-7 record. On the positive side, four of those seven loses have been by one run or less and three of their games have gone into extra innings. With less than a month until GLVC play begins, the Bearcats will look to fine tune their abilities in the final non-conference games.
Sophomore
Keeley Elsea has been the highlight for the Bearcats thus far hitting .423 on the season. Her 11 hits, four runs, and five stolen bases leads the team in each category. Senior
Shalie Wooden is off to a solid start hitting .353 along with a .529 slugging percentage that leads the team.
The Northeastern State (NSU) Riverhawks enter this game with a 7-6 overall record including three wins over Nationally recognized teams. SBU and NSU have two similar opponents in East Central and Arkansas Monticello with similar results, posing for an entertaining matchup in Bolivar.
