Bolivar, Mo. – After enjoying an extra day of rest last Saturday, the men's basketball team of Southwest Baptist University (SBU) enters the penultimate week of the regular season. This week, the Bearcats prepare for a fierce rivalry against Drury University before taking on the Miners of Missouri S&T.
In the Bearcats sole game last week, they lost to the nationally recognized Rockhurst Hawks 59-75. Junior
Zac Reedus was the leading scorer for SBU, scoring 23 points and adding three rebounds. Freshman
Leo Gayman dominated the boards with an impressive 14 rebounds, more than doubling the player with the second most rebounds in the game.
To kick off next week, Southwest Baptist will travel to Springfield, Missouri on Thursday, February 19 to take on the Drury Panthers in an intense rivalry matchup tipping off at 7:30 p.m. They will have every chance of securing a win against the Panthers who are 12-13 overall and 7-10 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC). In the other meeting between SBU and Drury this season, the team in purple emerged victorious in large part due to the 23 points scored by sophomore
Brandon Moore. Moore and the rest of the Bearcats will hope for a repeat performance to give SBU their second win over the Drury Panthers this season.
On Saturday, February 21, Southwest Baptist will take on Missouri S&T in Rolla, Missouri. The game is set to start at 3:00 p.m. The Miners currently hold an overall record of 17-6 and GLVC record of 11-5. Despite Missouri S&T's positive records, the team is coming off a two-game losing streak in which they lost to Truman State and William Jewell.
