Evansville, Ind. – SBU men's and women's season completed their historic inaugural season Saturday at the GLVC Championships. The men finished the meet in 11th place with 215 points, while the women finished in 10th with 276 points.

"Really proud of how the team worked, whether there were wins or losses, the team continued to compete and give everything they had." Head Coach Gavin Hagar said, "It was special for sure. It will be a week they will remember for the rest of their lives."

Friday was a breakthrough day for the Bearcats as six athletes made it to finals.  The first of these to score for SBU was Grace Simon in the 500-yard freestyle taking 21st place. Shortly after, Briley Larcom had the best finish for all women with a 17th place in the 100-yard backstroke. Larcom added another top-24 finish on Saturday in the 200-yard back, dropping 1.83 seconds. Two Bearcat ladies earned points in the 200-yard fly as Adilyn Henderson took 19th and Sofia Gonzalez finished in 22nd.

On the guys side, Brogan Meier had the best finish out of any Bearcat taking 13th in the 100-yard backstroke. The very next day Meier nearly beat his best again with a 14th place finish in the 200-yard backstroke, dropping 1.94 seconds from his entry time. Freshman Tyler Sharp was the only other Bearcat male to place, getting 23rd in the 100-yard back.

"It was beautiful to see the trials that bonded us all together throughout this five-day Championships." Hagar added, "So when we performed well it was that much more special."
