Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Edmond, Okla. – The SBU women's tennis continued their season Saturday against two different opponents. The Bearcats split the day defeating Ouachita Baptist and falling to Angelo State moving to 1-3 on the season.
 
Their first bout of the day was a thrilling comeback 4-3 victory over Ouachita Baptist. SBU lost doubles point despite Maria Clara Zotti and Sammi Liu winning their match 6-3. Due to a pre-match forfeit, the Tigers led 0-2 heading into the singles matches putting the pressure on. The only other Bearcat to fall in the game was Ally Bowser who battled hard against her opponent in the #5 spot, splitting the first two sets but dropping the third.
 
In spots one, two, and three, the Bearcats dominated their opponents in just two sets. Liu at the #2 spot had the biggest win going 6-0 in both sets. Defne Ursan was able win at the #1 spot and Clara Zotti evened the game at three points apiece winning in the #3 spot. As the match came down to the wire, freshman Isabella Canedo won a match clinching third set (7-5) for their first win of the season.
 
Game two did not go as well as the first as SBU fell to Angelo State in decisive fashion 0-4. Neither doubles team was able to a point so after that, a pre-match forfeit and Bowser fell in two quick sets, the Bearcats trailed 0-3. Ursan at the #1 spot, won her first set 6-2 but lost the last two for Angelo State to clinch the match. Liu, Clara Zotti, and Canedo did not finish their games due to the match being clinched.
 
Southwest Baptist will get to hold their first home match of the season on Friday against Emporia State in Springfield, Missouri at the Cooper Tennis Complex. This game will take place at 10:00 a.m.
