Pittsburg, Kan. –  The SBU women's track team concluded the mid-point of their indoor season Saturday, January 31^st at the Pitt State Invitational. The day was full of personal bests and National marks highlighting the progress the team has made.
 
It didn't take long in the day for a big moment within the team. Long distance runners Kiersten Potter and Natalie Gerdes both set personal bests in the 5000-meter taking 2^nd and 3^rd respectively. Potter's time of 17:26.65 moved her up to 4^th in SBU history while Gerdes's time of 17:31.71 moved her to 5^th best in SBU history.
 
The powerful sprinting duo of All-Americans Stephanique Dean and Laura Dixon continued to show their prowess in the 400-meter dash. Dean Took 2^nd in the event with a time of 55.38 hitting a National mark that is currently 16^th best in the Nation. Right behind her was Dixon who took 4^th in the race with a time of 55.74 and is 22^nd best in the Nation.
 
SBU senior Emily Young had a strong day in two different events taking top three. First she vaulted her way to 3^rd place in the pole vault open. Her mark of 3.30-meters was a personal best for her in this event. Later she took gold in the 800-meter run defeating numerous strong opponents with a time of 2:15.08.
 
The Bearcats will return to action next weekend at the Northwest Missouri State Bearcat Invite in Maryville, Missouri.
