Pittsburg, Kan. - Southwest Baptist University's Men track and field traveled down to Pittsburgh State this Saturday, January 31st, to compete against 18 other teams. Overall SBU finished the meet with some strong performances putting their names in the SBU record books.
 
The Bearcats performance at Pitt State was rounded out by four top five finishes. A top finisher in the field events was Ellis Joslin who placed fifth, but also reached a national mark with a height of 4.81 meters in the Men's High Jump. Afton Hopkins also came into the top ten as well with a ninth place finish of 4.36 meters.
 
The other three top races came from the track. Sophomore Marcus Jones reached fourth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 21.93.  Standout Freshman Cade Nold not only took silver in the 600 yard run with a 1:12.42, but broke a longstanding eight year SBU record in the process. The last top finish of the day came from the distance crew teaming together in the distance medley relay, with runners Kaleb Nail, Micah Rivera, Cade Nold, Nolan Hansen finishing fifth with a total time of 10:20.50.
 
The Bearcats Track and field will race again this upcoming Friday and Saturday, February sixth and seventh at Northwest Missouri State Bearcat Invite in Maryville, Missouri.
