Bolivar, Mo. – History was made in the pool for Southwest Baptist University men's swimming as the Bearcats defeated Truman State 169-93, earning the first dual meet victory in program history.

SBU set the tone immediately, opening the meet with a victory in the 400-yard medley relay. Tyler Sharp, Davide Lacriola, Clint Kopp and Logan Meixner combined to take first, beginning a strong day that saw the Bearcats pick up victories throughout the lineup.

The Bearcats continued their momentum with Ian McCorkle winning the 200-yard freestyle before Davide Lacriola took first in the 100-yard breaststroke. Lacriola later completed the breaststroke sweep with another victory in the 200-yard event.

SBU showcased its depth with several one-two finishes. Vincent Hagar won the 200-yard butterfly with Sheppard West finishing second, while Logan Meixner won the 50-yard freestyle ahead of Sharp. Meixner followed with another victory in the 100-yard freestyle as Kopp took second and Hunter Yin finished third to give SBU the top three spots.

Sharp added an individual victory in the 100-yard butterfly with Hagar right behind him in second. Aaron Stephenson also captured the 200-yard individual medley, followed by Kopp in second.
The historic afternoon ended fittingly with another Bearcat victory. Sharp, Meixner, McCorkle and Kopp teamed up to win the 400-yard freestyle relay, putting the finishing touches on the 169-93 victory.

With the win, the Bearcats added a new milestone to the young program's history, capturing their first-ever dual meet victory in dominant fashion.

They will now get a week off before competing against Nebraska Kearney and Iowa Western on October 17^th.
