Bolivar, Mo. – This weeks' Grand Missouri Bank Athlete of the Week belongs to freshman Cooper Owens from the Bearcat football team. He le the SBU offense to 55 points and a victory over McKendree University for their third straight win.
 
Owens produced 421 total passing yards off 23 completions for 4 touchdowns in the win on Saturday. He completed 23 of his 30 attempted passes for an incredible 77% completion percentage and a 238.5 QB rating. His 421 yards is the most by an SBU quarterback in a single game since 2022.
 
Cooper Owens has had a remarkable start to his collegiate career throwing 1131 yards already with 952 of those coming in the previous 3 games of which he has started. He currently ranks 2^nd in Division II in both completion percentage (73.7%) and passing efficiency (203.6%).
 
He and the Bearcats look to extend that winning streak to four back in front of their home crowd this Saturday against Upper Iowa at 1:00 p.m.
