Bolivar, Mo. – The SBU track and field team return to action Friday as they compete at the ShowMe Showdown in Columbia, Missouri. The Bearcats will compete against a variety of NCAA Division I and II schools as they look to break the rust off a month hiatus of competitions.
In December, the team competed in the Mel Tjeerdsma Classic hitting numerous big marks. Newcomer
Angel Dickerson broke an SBU school record in the long jump with a mark of 7.25-meters, which currently ranks 10
th in the Nation. The big day continued with
Marcus Jones who hit two National Marks and is top 10 in the Nation in 200-meters (9
th) and 400-meters (5
th). Other Bearcats had strong marks in
Justin Brown,
Ellis Joslin, and
Morgan Nichols, who will look to improve on those marks this meet.
Continuing their dominance from outdoor 2025 season, the women's track and field team had a great start to their 25-26 campaign.
Stephanique Dean began her journey back to the National Championships with a 2
nd place finish in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.51, which ranks 12
th in the Nation. The day was highlighted by the 4x400-meter relay team ran a 3:46.73 taking 2
nd at the meet but hitting a big National mark that still ranks top-3 in the Nation. Other Bearcats that took first in events include
Natalie Gerdes,
Madison Davis, and
Gracie Troester who all look to continue this momentum into the new year.
Field events will begin at 9:15am with running events beginning at 12:55pm.
