Bearcats Open Inaugural Swim Meet With Great Performances

9/28/2025 11:43:00 AM

Edmond, Okla. — The Southwest Baptist University women's swim team opened their inaugural season at the Sam Freas Invite Saturday in Edmond, Okla., placing fourth overall with 190 points.

The Bearcats started their season off strong with top-ten finishers in almost every event — an impressive meet, especially with each swimmer just beginning their collegiate career. Briley Larcom, Kamryn Cooper, and Grace Simon all stood out through their excellent performances at yesterday's meet.

These three Bearcats swam alongside Katherine Fields in the 200 Yard Medley Relay and Natalie Block in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay to make up SBU's 'A' relay teams. Both relays placed sixth overall.

Individually, Larcom identified herself as a top performer, finishing third in the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:00:87 and fourth in the 50 Yard Freestyle. Cooper also brought stellar performances with a fifth place finish in the 100 Yard Freestyle and a sixth place finish in the 100 Yard Fly. Simon placed in the top ten for both the 200 Yard Freestyle and 500 Yard Freestyle.

Following an impressive first meet, the Bearcats return to Bolivar to continue pushing themselves for best times as they await their next competition on Friday, October 10 at William Jewell University.
