Bolivar, Mo. — The SBU Men's Cross Country Team gears up for a promising fall season after a solid 2024 campaign. The Bearcats open up this season on Friday, September 5th with their annual Bearcat Invite at the Bolivar Municipal Golf Course.
The Bearcats placed 7th in last season's GLVC Championships with impressive performances by Jackson Leeds who placed 36th and by Landon and Gavin Duchscherer who placed 73rd and 75th. With many familiar faces returning this season, the Bearcats are projected in the GLVC preseason rankings to finish fifth in the conference. The Bearcats aim to work hard and exceed expectations this season.
With the loss of graduated senior Trevor Maxville, SBU looks for returners and new additions to the team to step up to fill their shoes with excellent performances this season. One athlete to watch is returning sophomore Jackson Leeds who ended last year on a high note by leading SBU at regionals and continuing production through the Track and Field season. After each contributing to last season's successes, brothers Gavin and Landon Duchscherer carry last year's momentum into the fall. Seniors Luke Urban and Nolan Hansen are among returning runners who look to take on more responsibility this season. Six freshmen will look to compete for opportunities this season as well.
