Pueblo, Colo. – The SBU track and field team continued their NCAA Championships in spectacular fashion on Friday. Five different Bearcats competed and all contributed to three SBU records.
The day started with
Collinique Farrington breaking her own 200-meter dash record once again. She blew past the runners in her heat with a time of 22.84, finishing the preliminaries in 2
nd place. Farrington will seek her first outdoor 200-meter dash podium finish on Saturday, she took 2
nd in the indoor competition earlier this year.
Shortly after this Senior Parker Love capped off his incredible collegiate career breaking his own school record in the 200-meter dash. He ran a time of 20.67 seconds finishing the NCAA Championships in 10
th place, just .07 seconds away from the finals. Though this was his final race in a Bearcat uniform, he ended as one of the best sprinters in SBU history. He finished with five SBU records and a GLVC Track Athlete of the Year award.
Capping off the day was the SBU relay team consisting of Farrington,
Laura Dixon,
Stephanique Dean, and
Brianna Lord. This group continued to excel breaking their own school record in the 4x400-meter relay by nearly five seconds. Their time of 3:34.71 was the 4
th best in the preliminaries advancing to the finals on Saturday at 9:55pm.
Farrington, Dixon, Dean, and Lord will join
Savannah Manthey and
Alexis O'farrell at the finals on Saturday.
