Romeoville, Ill. – The SBU women's track and field continued the GLVC championships on day two capturing another podium finish. They currently sit in 6
th place with 17 points.
Junior
Emily Young vaulted her way into her first individual podium finish taking 3
rd place in the pole vault. In prior Championships, she has been a member of a couple of relay podium finishes. Now she earns her own by hitting a mark of 3.63-meters in the pole vault.
Numerous Bearcats had strong places in semi-final heats of the track events throughout the day. 3-time GLVC track athlete of the year,
Collinique Farrington, started her Championship out strong taking 1
st in the 200 and 400-meter semifinals. Freshman
Jaynae Pinder qualified for her first outdoor finals in the 100-meter hurdles currently in 5
th place. Later in the day she qualified for the finals in the 400-meter hurdles finishing in 7
th place
Other members to qualify for the finals include
Laura Dixon who finished in 7
th in the 100-meter dash. Later she joined her teammate in the 200-meter dash finals taking 6
th in the semifinals. Fellow sophomore
Brianna Lord took 7th in the 400-meter dash to advance with Farrington. Freshman
Kadence Wallace took to the mid-distance, qualifying for the finals in the 800-meter run, sitting in 4
th place.
The team will finish the GLVC Championships on Saturday with events beginning at 9:00am.
