Indianapolis, Ind. – The SBU athletic department earned their second straight GLVC James R. Spalding Overall Sportsmanship Award as announced by the conference office Friday.
In just six years since joining the conference, this is the Bearcats fourth time winning this award. In the 2019-20 inaugural season, there was not Sportsmanship award determined due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Meaning SBU has won four out of the five possible chances to win.
At the conclusion of each conference sport season, each institution's coach ranks the top-three teams within the sport that displayed good sportsmanship throughout the season. The team with the highest point total is then named the Sportsmanship Team Award winning. At the end of the year, the institution that accumulated the highest point total across all sports is named the overall winner.
The Bearcats dominated the team sportsmanship standings collecting six in total doubling all the other schools. These overall team wins came from both men's and women's cross country and men's and women's indoor and outdoor track and field.
