SBU Softball Honors 11 Seniors in Season Finale

Bolivar, Mo. - The SBU Softball team wrapped up their season with a doubleheader loss to the Drury Panthers. This concludes their 2025 season at 20-27 (12-15 GLVC), narrowly missing out on the conference tournament. The Bearcats also honored 11 seniors for their dedication and hard work for the program.

Game 1 : L,  7-11

The Bearcats started off slow, going down by as many as seven runs. In the bottom of the fourth, Hayley Sites batted in Lexi Detwiler and Margo Frossard for the Bearcats first score of the game. SBU allowed a couple more runs until a rally in the bottom of the 6th brought them within two, for a potential comeback victory. A successful Kaitlyn Ragsdale bunt scored Lexi Detwiler, followed up by a Kate McConville 2-RBI double. The double also put McConville solely in the lead for career doubles in SBU history. Angie Micone kept the Bearcats rolling with an RBI, scoring McConville. Audrey Rahlmann concluded the team's scoring with a single to bring in Micone.

Kylee Dewey started on the mound for the Bearcats before freshman Abby Leer came in. Leer recorded two strikeouts in a little over four innings, allowing only one earned run. Taylor Howard and Emma Kreisel also spent time on the mound recording a strikeout each.

Game 2 : L, 0-2

In the season finale, the Bearcats were in a defensive slugfest. Shalie Wooden got the start and went the whole seven. She only allowed six hits and two runs in the game, while tallying three strikeouts. The Bearcats made good contact with the ball all contest but good fielding held SBU to two hits.

Prior to the games, the bearcats were able to recognize the following 11 seniors: Margo Frossard, Kate McConville, Audrey Rahlmann, Kaitlyn Ragsdale, Grace Stearns, Emma Vincent, Hayley Sites, Lexi Detwiler, Kylee Dewey, Paige Leithead, and manager Sara Farmer.

The Bearcats softball team will look to improve on a historically good season as they won 20 games for the first time since 2017.
