Box Score Springfield, MO - The SBU women's tennis team continued conference play with a matchup against rival Drury University that resulted in a 3-4 loss. This moves them to 7-6 (1-1 GLVC) on the season.

For the doubles play, the Panthers were able to secure the point as they won all three matchups. In the #1 spot,
Defne Ursane and
Paula Ballesteros fell 2-6 that was followed up by a 1-6 loss in the #2 spot for
Leticia Luiz and
Polina Paunova.
Maria Clara Zotti and
Giselle Garcia competed in the #3 spot for the Bearcats, losing 0-6.Â

The Bearcats responded well in the singles, starting with a strong showing for
Paula Ballesteros at the #1 spot where she battled in a 6-7 first set defeat before taking the second set 6-3. Ultimately, she retired in the third set, giving the point to Drury.
Defne Ursane dropped the #2 spot match (1-6, 3-6) before
Polina Paunova gained some momentum for SBU by winning in the #3 spot (7-6, 6-3). In the #4 spot,
Leticia Luiz battled hard with a 5-7 first set before dropping the second set by a score of 2-6, sealing the victory for the Panthers. SBU ended things on a high note however by picking up two wins. In the #5 spot,
Giselle Garcia battled back after losing the first set to win (2-6, 6-3, 1-0). In another 3-set match,
Maria Clara Zotti also showed some resilience after dropping the first set by winning her matchup (1-6, 7-6, 1-0).Â
